How to Play Sudoku
It is a logic-based number puzzle played on a 9x9 grid. The objective is to fill each row, column, and 3x3 box with the numbers 1 to 9, and ensure that no number repeats within the same row, column, or box.
Steps to solve easily
- Start with an empty Sudoku grid.
- Look for clues or numbers already provided in the grid.
- Start to analyze the grid and identify any numbers that can only fit in one particular cell.
- Use the process of elimination to fill in the remaining cells, and ensure that each number appears only once in each row, column, and 3x3 box.
- Continue to fill in numbers and make logical deductions until the entire grid is filled.
- Double-check your solution to ensure that all the rules of Sudoku are followed.

Strategies to solve quickly
- Single possibility: Look for cells that have only one possible number based on the numbers already filled in the same row, column, or box.
- Elimination: Identify numbers that cannot fit in a particular cell based on the numbers already present in the same row, column, or box.
- Naked pairs/triples: If two or three cells in a row, column, or box contain the same two or three possible numbers, those numbers can be eliminated as possibilities from other cells in the same row, column, or box.
- Hidden pairs/triples: If two or three cells in a row, column, or box contain the same two or three possible numbers, those numbers must be present in those cells and can be eliminated as possibilities from other cells in the same row, column, or box.
- X-wing: Look for a pattern where two rows (or columns) each have two cells with the same two possible numbers. If these cells form a rectangle, the numbers can be eliminated as possibilities from other cells in the same columns (or rows).
